- Muscle Activation Techniques
In recent years, a revolutionary biomechanical-based system called Muscle Activation Techniques™ (M.A.T) has been discovered. This hands-on approach allows specialists to identify muscular unbalances and address them instantly. By addressing the weakness and dysfunctions within the body, M.A.T gets to the root of the problem. It has dramatically improved functional capabilities in all age groups, along with elevating sports performance and career longevity in many competitive athletes.
M.A.T uses a range of motion (ROM) exam and explicit positional muscle tests to identify the body’s greatest limitations. Limitations are based on asymmetries in the body, comparing one side to the other. Positional muscle testing is then used to identify precise muscles that are causing dysfunction and contributing to these limitations. Manual palpations, as well as specific isometric contractions, are used to correct these limitations and restore proper muscle function. M.A.T is successful because it allows the human body to heal itself.
MAT is an innovative, non-invasive approach that identifies and corrects muscular imbalances that are often responsible for pain, tightness and/or injury. M.A.T views muscle tightness as the body’s way of protecting itself from weak or inhibited muscles. No matter the exercise: golf, running, or just walking, the M.A.T process addresses the weak links, by correcting muscular weakness, which in turn may relieve muscle tightness, decrease pain and reduce the risk of injury.
Muscular imbalances develop over time as a result of overuse, stress, and trauma. Years of compensation patterns may eventually lead to structural abnormalities and pain. Pain is an indicator that something within our body is not functioning properly. M.A.T focuses on the cause of the imbalances.
If you want more range of motion to improve your game or simply enjoy daily activities, M.A.T can also enhance your current physical therapy methods or be used as a stand alone modality. Don’t accept the, “no pain, no gain,” myth. M.A.T will help you eliminate the limitations associated with aging by reversing the degeneration process. With M.A.T, everyday people are treated like million-dollar athletes!

PRINCIPLES OF ENERGY MEDICINE
David Feinstein, Ph.D.©2005
Energy medicine recognizes energy as a vital, living, moving force that determines much about health. In energy medicine, energy is the medicine, and energy is also the client. You balance the body by activating its natural energies; you also balance the body by restoring energies that have become weak, disturbed, or out of sync. The essential principles of energy medicine include:
Energies —both electromagnetic energies and more subtle energies—form the dynamic infrastructure of the physical body.
The health of those energies–in terms of flow, balance, and harmony–is reflected in the health of the system.
Conversely, when the body is not in-sync, corresponding disturbances in its energies can be identified and balanced.
To maintain your body in-sync, the body needs its energies to:
- Move and have space to continue to move—energies may become blocked due to toxins, muscular or other constriction, prolonged stress, or interference from other energies.
- Move in specific patterns—generally in harmony with the physical structures and functions that the energies animate and support. "Flow follows function."
- Cross over—at all levels, from the microlevel of the double helix of DNA, extending to the macrolevel where the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body and the right side to the left.
- Maintain a balance with other energies—the energies may lose their natural balance due to prolonged stress or other conditions that keep specific energy systems in a survival mode.
Flow, balance, and harmony can be non-invasively restored and maintained within an energy system by:
- Tapping, palpating, pinching, twisting, or connecting specific energy points on the skin
- Tracing or swirling the hand over the skin along specific energy pathways
- Exercises or postures designed for specific energetic effects
- Focused use of the mind to move specific energies
- Surrounding an area with healing energies (one person’s energies impacts another’s)Holistic Nutrition
